Upon graduating in Landscape Architecture with national honors from Kansas State University, Kyle Phillips began his golf course design career with Robert Trent Jones II in California.  First as a design associate, then as vice president Kyle primarily worked in Europe and the Caribbean for the company.   During these years, the opportunity to study and play many of the great links and heathland courses of the British Isles and Europe greatly influenced and eventually changed his path as a course designer forever.

He founded Kyle Phillips  in 1997, with the objective of giving distinct personality and character to each of his designs through the incorporation of these timeless classic links golf design principles.  Kyle works closely with his team of highly skilled shaping specialists and on-site representatives to shape and finish every green, bunker, and wrinkle on each course. Throughout the over 30 years of honing his craft in more than 30 countries, for more than 60 clients on five continents, Kyle continues to bring his personal commitment to each aspect of every design, achieving World Top 100 results on both natural terrain, as well as challenging sites.  The work of Kyle Phillips Golf Course Design has successfully challenged the world's best players by hosting over 50 international professional tour events, including: The President’s Cup, The World Golf Championships, The Women’s British Open, The United States Senior Open, The Scottish Open, The British Masters, The Dutch Open, The NCAA Championships, and the Dunhill Links Championships.
