The home of the Golf Club Altenhof is an extremely picturesque piece of earth. The pleasant hilly landscape on Eckernförde Bay, views over the fields, ancient giant trees, the historic ensemble of the Altenhof estate, all of this makes this golf course something really special. Quite apart from the fact that each of the 18 lanes with fair but also demanding challenges brings joy to players of all handicap classes.
The Altenhof Golf Club was founded in 1971. Today it is known beyond the borders of the region and is always high on the lists of the most beautiful golf courses in Germany. This is certainly also thanks to the outstanding achievements of many teams and individual players of the club at state and federal level, who brought Altenhof into discussion. First and foremost, however, it is the "normal" golfers - members as well as guests - who rightly rave about this course.
The implementation of the master plan in 2015 and 2016 gave each of the 18 holes a current fine-tuning that challenges ambitious golfers fairly and at the same time offers beginners to the sport fun and a sense of achievement.
The magnificent Altenhof estate of the von Bethmann-Hollweg family, whose history can be traced back to the 15th century, is responsible for the very special atmosphere. The club and the restaurant have found a stylish home in a wing of the historic premises. The golf course fits harmoniously into the historic park, which is characterized by numerous solitary trees. It is worthwhile to look into the impressive treetops from time to time and - with all concentration on the game of golf - to go on a little mental journey through time in between.
