Forsbacka Golfklubb is a member-run non-profit sports association formed in 1969.

The course, which was completed in 1972, is a scenic golf course designed by Nils Sköld. During the summer months, there are about 850 members and 6000 guests who visit the scenically located course.

Six full-time employees and up to 20 people have their income from Forsbacka during the season.

Here you will find a hotel, shop, restaurant, golf course and cultural buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries. The golf course is ranked as one of Sweden''s best and it is located in a very beautiful place, which has been nicknamed

During the 17th and 18th centuries , several ironworks were established in both Värmland and Dalsland. Forsbacka was one of these and the reason was that there was good access to firewood and coal. In addition, it was close to Åmål, which had a good port where you could ship raw materials from Bergslagen''s iron mines and ship out the forged iron.

More than 300 years have passed since the ironworks started. Forsbacka had its heyday in the middle of the 19th century when the lancashire smithy was introduced. It was then Dalsland''s largest and best workplace and had both its own school and restaurant.

At the end of the 19th century , there were bad times in the world. People fled to America and the demand for wrought iron suddenly ended. Forsbacka went into a 100-year hibernation.
Only when the Golf Club''s ancestor Lars Bäcker came by and woke it from his Sleeping Beauty sleep, did the old Ironworks come to life again. Forsbacka was transformed, with the help of AMS and many volunteers.
